Roses

The main focus of my art in 2011 has been based on roses. They have been a great inspiration. I have taken this subject and created a series of paintings that I am most proud of. Through the creation of these pieces, I have acquired new techniques of can control. Here is a couple if my favorites and a link to the entire set. Most of the paintings are for sale. Please contact me at fonseca.jim@gmail.com if you are interested in purchasing any art.

The L.A. Beatdown 09.31.11

I started off the weekend with a fresh fade from T.J. at The Proper Barbershop. My paint supplies are together and I'm ready to head out to the Music Box in Hollywood. Friday evening now upon us. The canvas is on the easel and lighting is placed. I look over onto Hollywood Boulevard and took a minute to watch the sunset. The music starts and L.A. Beatdown begins. I Started painting around 9pm and continue all night until 2am. It was a great time and I met some cool people. Below are progress photos of me painting.

The photo I used for reference was taken at the San Fernando Mission Rose Garden in August. Painting all night long listening to live dub-step was a great time.

Brick Rose

Liberation

This painting marks the very first rose that I have painted on a wall. For the last 6 months all of the roses I have painted have been on canvases from 16"x20" to 4'x3'. There are now more than 30 completed rose paintings with more to come. I've been thinking about painting a rose on a wall for a while. It feels good to take my art to the next level. This is the first of many.

Wood Illustrations

Here are a a small series of paintings that I created in 2006-07. I found these pictures on my Photobucket account that I haven't checked in years. Since I created my Flickr page, Photobucket became obsolete. Even though these pieces are very small, they are some of my faves.
