Photos: Alejandro QuezadaThis past weekend was the release party for the "Illegal Aliens" clay sculptures by Ivan Gonzalez. Gift to Gab Gallery in San Jose, CA was the gracious host of the event. The warm atmosphere and creative vibe was definitely present during the event. Ivan has been working very intensely over the last few months on the sculptures. All the of those tough hours have been shown in the fruits of his labor. These "Illegal Aliens" are a creative twist of Polymer Clay that shows the meticulous detail and rhythm that was put into the creation of these little guys. Most of the sculptures are about 3 inches and all of them are 100% unique and original. Ivan has developed a style of aliens that shows a combination of cult classic alien movies and humorous cartoon characters of his childhood. But the name of the sculptures, "Illegal Aliens" is an ambiguous reference to his roots being of immigrants from Mexico. But either you look at it, there is no denying the amazing talent of Ivan Gonzalez. Ivan will be displaying these and new ones during the SubZERO Festival in San Jose on June 3rd. So keep an eye out for more Illegal Alien sightings in your area.
